Hey fam! Today, being the third day in the month of November, I decided to talk about something that has become a menace to our society. Something that has affected the youths who I believe are the leaders of today not tomorrow because leadership starts from now.
This topic may come off as boring to some people but the truth of the matter is that some people are ignorant of the damages substance or drug abuse can cause. They are ignorant as to how far these drugs that are not used properly could affect one’s mental health.
What is drug abuse? Drug abuse is a patterned use of a drug in which the user consumes the substance in amounts or with methods which are harmful to themselves or to others. I don’t intend on boring you with explaining the definition or explaining the types of drugs that can be used. I believe those that are abusing it know the drugs lol. I am going to be focusing on the effects the excess intake of these drugs could have in a long run. The effects it could have on the individual, the family and the society at large.
What are the effects of substance abuse? We need to understand first of all that different drugs have various effects in the body. We also need to understand that the quantity of drug A that could have a bad effect may not be the same quantity drug B needs to have the same effect. Another thing we need to understand is that there are long term side effects and short term side effects. Lastly, we need to understand that our body compositions are different. The way body A will react to cocaine may not be the way body B will react to the same cocaine in the same concentration and taken under the same conditions. The effects of drug abuse are mostly health related and they include but are not limited to high blood pressure, dementia and even death.
People are pulled into this world of addiction through peer pressure. Let us learn how to say no when it is needed and yes when it is needed. Let our no be no and our yes be yes. In the bible, we are taught that the body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. This flesh is mere sand. Let us stop satisfying the every want and desire of the flesh.
Let us try to spread the word. People are ignorant. Let’s speak up and teach people the adverse effects of substance abuse. Like in the last article, don’t lose hope because you are already addicted and you think there is no way out. There is somebody bigger than any drug user in this world and if you surely cry out to Him, He will answer you.
Thanks for reading and let us try to make our world a better place to live in. Help a soul if you can. Let us say no to substance abuse!!!
Stay blessed always.
