There’s a commandment in Exodus.. Honor your parents so your days may be long on earth. Did we all think God was joking?
What does it mean to honor? To respect, to obey bearing in mind that they wish us the very best.
Teenagers like to be rebels but we need to learn how to listen sometimes.
Everyone needs to listen. Inability to listen and take instructions has cost a lot of people their lives.
I will share with you the story of a friend X.
She was told early in the morning not to go out because she had asked for permission from her mum earlier but it was a no. She was warned to stay indoors and look after her younger brother while her mum stepped out for work.
X took the opportunity of being alone to still go to wherever she wanted to go leaving her little brother alone.
But obedience is better than sacrifice. Always obey. She went missing. For 48 good hours, the poor mother was looking for her daughter round and round.
When our parents say something, please and please, think properly before making a decision. They know better.
But to the glory of God, she returned home. All because of God’s mercy and grace.
What would have happened if she stayed home just that day, I wondered.
Let’s learn to listen
It costs less than not listening.
Not just to our parents now
But to everyone
Evaluate the situation
Stop being strong headed about everything
Everything doesn’t require rebellion .
Let these little words sink in and make a difference
“…and the pain this time was unexplainable, he wouldn’t even writhe in pain anymore. He just lay on his back and the tears just kept rolling down his eyes. He was in so much pain, sleep ran away from him. One time, he looked at me and asked with the the low teary voice,
” will this pain ever go away?”
“It will… It will… Just hold on tight. I promise it will. Just continue to drink water”
But then, did I even believe myself?
He was having crisis as a sickle celled. It comes with pains in various parts of the body. I looked down at him, then the tired look written all over my mother’s face, and my then my father just seemed lost in thought.
Oh well, memories began to flood my mind. Memories that put my mind at rest. All those nights I’d wake up and hear sobs from my parent’s room. I’d go check what’s up only to see him in my mother’s arms wriggling in great discomfort and my dad massaging the area paining him. I’d join them and help to massage but most times, mom would try to put me at ease and tell me to go back to sleep and tell me everything was okay. Even if I went back to my room, sleep wouldn’t come. So why not stay and help in whatever way. I’d insist that I wanted to help and that’s how everyone will be denied sleep all for him.
Other days, he’d be rushed to the hospital from school and my mom would be called from work.
Again, waking up to ease myself could mean I’d see him crying in his pains. Usually, I’d ask him why he didn’t just go and report to mom, He’d reply and tell me he doesn’t want to disturb them. Sometimes, I’ll give him painkillers and if the pain did not subside, I’d carry him to my mom’s room. I remember one time I had to rush off in the rain to his nurse’s house to call her after all attempts to reach her proved futile.
One time, the pain was so much, we had to rush to the hospital. My dad drove like a mad man!
All the hospital bills, the stress and all… Sigh*
We survived all of them, didn’t we?… At the end of the day, he always recovered and got back stronger and what joy it was to see him do so.
That put my doubts to rest and I knew this one wouldn’t be so different. He was gonna recover and return the happy child he is and always meant to be, no matter what.
“Yes, you’ll be fine bro, I promise” I said with a reassuring smile.
…and through those tears, he cracked a smile and I knew he was gonna fight and never let despair get the better of him”
That was my friend narrating his ordeal as we did our laundry.
Hey, this post is not to get sympathy. Its too inspire us all, everyone! to put sickle celled patients in our prayers. They need it. They didn’t ask for those pains but they have it anyway. If you haven’t done so today, go down on your kneels right now and pray for them.
And if you’re a patient, never stop fighting. Get close to God, He’ll never let you down. Pray for yourself. Never let despair get the better of you. Eat good food and drink lots of water. Never give up! A lot of people live long with it and have found ways to deal with it. Yours won’t be different. I promise.
Heyyyyy guys, It’s Temi.Od here. I’m really sorry for being out for a long while. Now that I’m less occupied I’m here and I’ll try to be more consistent. I think I need to re introduce myself. I’m Temi and I’ve been taking on the beauty and fashion segments the times I’ve been on and that’s what I’ll continue with. So today I’m here to talk about skin care.
A lot of ladies suffer with skin problems such as: acne, dark spots, discoloration and all that and spend lots of money to clear them. Why not go the natural way, safe, cheap and effective .I’m basically just here to share my skin care routine. Although, I have not really had skin problems, but I do break out sometimes and these steps help me get my flawless smooth skin back. Ps: I’m not a beauty expert. I’m just sharing what works for me and I certainly guarantee you that nothing here will harm your skin. So let’s proceed .
This is my natural skin care routine.
So first off, these are the following items I use / you will need.
– black soap
– A facial scrub
– coconut oil
– Almond oil
– Tea tree oil
– shower gel that contains coconut oil, Shea butter or vitamin E oil
– moisturizer ( Nivea, cocoa butter, oils)
When I’m up in the morning, I like to wash my face with cold water to feel awake and awaken my skin cells.
Then I proceed to washing my face with black soap. There are different brands of black soap. I use a brand called Dudu-Osun.
It’s made with pure natural ingredients and it smells good too. There are so many brands of black soap but this particular brand contains natural ingredients like honey, shea butter, camwood, palm kernel oil, citrus juices , aloe Vera , lemon and lime juices.
Black soap fights acne, eczema, dark spots and also cleanses the skin, leaving the skin refreshed and healthy. Note that black soap is a bit drying so if you have dry skin don’t leave it on your face for more than 5- 10 minutes before washing. I wet this soap with a little water and rub all over my face. I leave for about 5 minutes before I wash off with clean water. You can also apply this soap on target areas like where there’s acne on your skin, it dries it up and it disappears in no time. It also clears dark spots and dark marks, so apply to dark spots to make them no longer visible.
After this step I would clean my face with a face towel and then move on to moisturizing my face because of all that dryness from the soap. I never really liked lotions or cream because I tend to sweat. But a good skin moisturizer I recommend is a Nivea skin lotion or jergens with Shea butter lotion. I’ve used both and they’re really hydrating but because I tend to feel hot a lot I switched to using something lighter, Oils.
Oils like : coconut oil, almond oil, tea tree oil are very moisturizing and have many advantages.
Coconut oil : as we know coconut oil is used for basically almost everything. From cooking, to hair care, to make up removal. It leaves the skin healthy and glowing
Tea tree oil : dries up pimples, helps eliminate eczema, help with scars and dark spots, eliminates stretch marks
I like to take little quantities of these oils and apply generously on my face and skin and let it sit in.
I use Vaseline for my lips as a lip balm to prevent chapped lips and also on my lashes to make them appear a bit longer.
I would take my bath either with Dudu Osun or a shower gel enriched with Shea butter and vitamin E.
A brand like Enliven leaves the skin nourished, smooth and silky. Trust me you’d love the feel of your skin after you bath with it.
For night time and days I wear make up. I make sure to exfoliate my skin with a good facial scrub. I recommend the almond and carrot scrub by beauty formulas. It’s amazing. Super affordable too.
But here’s how to make your own scrub at home. Grab honey and sugar. Pour a bit of both and mix together then apply on the face and scrub.
Exfoliating helps to get rid of dead skin, dirts and leaves the skin very smooth and clean. I recommend you exfoliate 3-4 times a week depending on how much you wear make up.
Lastly guys, drinks lots and lots of water.
Remember to take off your make up before you go to bed and incorporate washing and cleansing your face after make up removal.
This is basically what I do to maintain a clear, flawless skin and it helps me a lot. I’ll put pictures so you guys don’t think I’m here to play lol.
This is all I have for you today. I hope you found it very informative, helpful and interesting. Please like this , share and come on our blog to see more. Try this out and comment guys. I want to know how it works for you!! Until next time. Bye loves.
We learn new things, we keep learning, we keep getting a better understanding of situations and all.
I’ll like to share what I learnt recently with us. I learnt if you haven’t felt a situation, you most definitely don’t know anything about it. FELT. As per if you haven’t been in that situation, then don’t claim to know anything about it because when you find yourself in the same shoes you will realize you were wrong!
Normally I just feel logic and reason solves everything. Any situation we find ourselves, just think jarey and the solution comes like boom. It’s never that hard. This is what I used to think.
Recently, my friend realised that he hadn’t paid his complete school fees. He thought everything had been cleared but something came to his notice that he hadn’t seen initially as to mean, he had 30,000 or thereabout to complete the fees and I was like tell your dad jor, he will understand. I told him not to waste time na. I thought he was just being a mere chicken. How hard could it be?
Till it happened to me..
How do I tell my dad that I need 10,000 extra to buy some books… I initially told him a lower price because that’s what I thought but that’s not the actual price. Now, I understand how difficult that situation could be.
Money, as we know it is not easy to come by and only someone who understands the true value of money will understand the above situations.
I’m not saying we shouldnt be logical about things or that we shouldn’t say how we feel about situations even though we might not have tasted it.
We should still give opinions and suggestions but be careful with words.
If you haven’t been in same situation before, it’s better you calm down, re evaluate and understand before speaking.
Cos how it looks might not be how it is
Stay blessed !!!!
Hi lovelies! I hope we are good!. I’ll be sharing a few tips i learnt on hair health today. As we all know Black is beautiful and our hair is our pride whether its black or not. A lot of times we wonder why some of our friends hair is so thick and ours is like really light and can break so easily. It’s cos we have different hair porosity, width and type. I’d be talking on hair porosity.
Okay you most likely are wondering what is hair porosity again now? Hair Porosity refers to how well your hair is able to absorb and hold moisture. It is affected by the flexible outer hair layer called the cuticle, which determines how easily moisture and oils pass in and out of your hair. For most, porosity is genetic, but it can also be affected by external factors such as exposure, heat treatments and chemical processing. Knowing your hair’s porosity can help you choose the right products to keep your hair well-moisturized, supple, strong and shiny.
Now Determining Hair Porosity:
There are two methods you can use to find out how porous your hair is.
*The Float Test: Take a couple of strands of hair from your comb or brush and drop them into a bowl of water. Let them sit for 2-4 minutes. If your hair floats, you have low porosity. If it sinks, you have high porosity.
*The Slip’n’Slide Test: Take a strand of hair and slide your fingers up the shaft (toward the scalp). If you feel little bumps along the way, this means that your cuticle is lifted and that you have high porosity. If your fingers slip smoothly, then you have low porosity hair.
Hair with low porosity has a tightly bound cuticle layer with overlapping scales that lay flat. This type of hair is usually considered healthy, and is often very shiny, especially when it’s dark in color. Low porosity hair repels moisture when you try to wet it and is hard to process since it resists penetration of chemicals.Low porosity hair is also prone to build-up from protein-rich deep conditioning products, which can leave it feeling stiff and straw-like. Stick to protein-free, daily conditioners with humectants such as glycerin or honey. Use moderate heat with protein-free deep conditioning treatments to help open up the tightly bound cuticle.Low porosity hair requires moisturizers rich in emollients such as shea butter, jojoba oil, coconut oil and mineral oil. It also benefits from humectant products, which attract and hold moisture to your hair. Choose lighter, liquid-based products such as hair milks that won’t sit on your hair and leave it oily or greasy.
Furthermore, Hair with medium porosity often requires the least amount of maintenance. The cuticle layer is looser, allowing just the right amount of moisture to enter while preventing too much from escaping. Hair with normal porosity tends to hold styles well, and can be permed and colored with predictable results. Over time, however, these processes can damage your hair and increase its porosity.Occasional deep conditioning treatments with protein conditioners can benefit medium porosity hair, but proteins should not be included in your daily regimen.
Now hair with high porosity can be either an inherent property of hair or the result of damage from chemical processing, rough treatment or environmental damage. High porosity hair has gaps and holes in the cuticle, which let too much moisture into your hair and leave it prone to frizz and tangling in humid weather. Even simple acts such as bathing, swimming and shampooing can create more damage and breakage due to the sheer amount of moisture highly porous hair can absorb.Be sure to use anti-humectants in climates with high heat and humidity. This will help seal your damaged cuticles and prevent them from absorbing excess moisture in the air.Because highly porous hair can also lose moisture easily, it’s important to use leave-in conditioners, moisturizers and sealers. Layering these products will help your hair hold on to the moisture you’re giving it. You can even follow up with a heavy hair butter to help fill the gaps in your damaged cuticles and further protect your hair from losing too much moisture. I hope this few points has given you more understanding about your hair and I sincerely hope we’d be intentional about doing the hair porosity tests. Do have a great fulfilling day ahead and ensure to wait on the next article, it’d be more revealing. Have a great day once again!
