I woke to see a video pop up on my phone, sent by my dad. What could be in this video naw? That was the first thing that crossed my mind. As I watched the video, I didn’t need nobody to tell me, it was worth it! As tears flowed down my cheeks (yh I’m emotional lol), it sent me thinking.
The video was about a lady who went off to college. We all know how it goes na, her mum called everyday to check up on her and be sure she was alright but then it became frustrating for the girl because she felt her mum was disturbing her. Feeling this way, she stopped picking up the calls and went on with her stuff. Winter break came and she had to go home. Sadly, she met her mum in a very bad condition, she had been diagnosed with cancer. I can just imagine the guilt that came upon her! The story ended all well and good because the mother got better and the daughter had a chance to repent.
What if you don’t get a chance to say sorry? Lets learn to be APPRECIATIVE to the people we have around us. Annoying, weird, irritating or any adjective you may like to use, appreciate them and acknowledge their presence because if they go, they are gone. See ehn, there are people that will frustrate the hell outta you but as hard as it is, look for the good and appreciate the good.
Dont get me wrong, please don’t let anyone disturb your inner peace. But if the person has business with you or is gonna be around for a while, you might as well start ignoring his/her excesses!
Forget friends first, friends will come and go. What of family? When Last did you call that uncle to just greet him no matter how much he might annoy you by repeatedly asking the same question.
If we continually place the 1 bad over the 10 good, we might face REGRET.
As a medical student, I get to see dead bodies for dissection classes. This just shows that mehn this life ain’t ours and we need to be grateful for life. As this life can be taken in a second, let us not waste the years we have with people being irritated by them. Let us not regret not calling that uncle or that friend that always gets on your nerves!
Point is, lets appreciate the people we have been opportune to encounter and love them unconditionally. So lets pick the phone up and call that aunty that annoyed you 3 years ago over whatever, call that girl that made you get in trouble. FORGIVE so we don’t spend our lives trying to forgive ourselves.
‘of faith, hope and love, LOVE is the greatest….’
